HOW WILL TEACHING CHANGE?

Hình ảnh
Education has undergone a radical transformation over the last few decades, and it is anticipated to change dramatically in the future. With the aid of technology, teaching and learning will be entirely distinct from what we are doing these days. Firstly, there will more degree pathways to accommodate a changing student demographic and employment landscape. Alternatives include nano- and micro-degrees, competency-based programs, expanded online options, and portable and standards-based credentials, as well as increased collaboration and partnerships with other institutions.              Secondly, online education will be more widely used in different programs. It will range from online activities to the whole online course. Teachers must be prepared to teach in different modes, including face-to-face, online and blended ones.             Thirdly, teachers and students will make use of technology in every classroom. “Paper and pen” classroom will be totally replaced by high-tech one i

BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES IN USING TECHNOLOGY IN CLASSROOM

Hình ảnh
Technology has become an inseparable element in many areas of our daily lives as well as education. With the rise of online courses and the benefits technology can bring to a lesson, technology seems to appear in every lesson of modern teachers. However, with the confines of classroom and learning environment, technology can be both beneficial and problematic at the same time. Therefore, teachers should have proper preparation before applying any technological tool in the lesson.           When designing a lesson, I usually consider which technological tool should be integrated and whether it works as planned or not. I expect that the technology I use will excite my students and keep them engaged in the lesson. Moreover, using technology also builds up soft skills for my students, namely team-work, collaboration or presentation skills. Nevertheless, there are also challenges I have figured out when applying technological tool. Firstly, there is no wifi-network in my school, so

Reflection 8 (Module 7: Action Project)

In our action project, we chose to apply an application called Classpoint into my class in order to see how it worked in promoting students' participation.  At that time, due to the pandemic of Covid 19, all classes were taught and learned online, so we prepared lesson plans and power-point slides for online lessons. I was in charge of teaching the lesson while my friends wrote the lesson plan and observed the class. The first time I introduced  Classpoint to my students did not consume much time as I had expected. The students excelled in using online learning application and they did not have any difficulty in logging and learning through  Classpoint. However, one thing that I did not expect was that  Classpoint   limited the number of students in one learning session. Only 25 students who were faster could get a place in the app, so the other had to interact with teacher through chat box. After the first lesson using  Classpoint , our group had a discussion and decided to upgr

Reflection 7 (Module 6: Flipped Learning)

Flipped Learning is widely acknowledged as a better method for  enhancing learners' autonomy and independence as well as self-discovering of the knowledge compared to the traditional ones. In flipped learning classroom, the center is switched from teacher to students. Teacher does not play the role of information provider but a facilitator whose tasks are observing, monitoring, providing feedback and assessing students' work. Students, in contrast to what they usually do in normal classes, namely sitting neatly and taking notes of lectures, are responsible for discovering the subject knowledge before the lesson and bring what they have acquired to discussion. The whole class are able to gain some insight into the matter through discussing and solving the tasks in class. There are many types of flipped classrooms suggested by the reading materials; however,   the micro-flipped classroom and group-based flipped classroom   are the most suitable for my classes. When applying the

Project-based learning (PBL) or project-based instruction is an instructional approach designed to give students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging projects set around challenges and problems they may face in the real world. The reasons for applying PBL approach in teaching are:  PBL helps build   21st-century skills students need to succeed . As educators, it is essential to prepare our students to meet the demands of today’s changing global society. With increased engagement, PBL encourages a deeper understanding of content which develops critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity PBL provides opportunities to engage students in real-world learning . PBL is arguably the greatest opportunity to engage students in authentic projects or   performance tasks  tied to real-world careers and experiences.  (Links to an external site.) After attending this session, I have been noted down some useful websites for teaching and learning reading and writing skills National Geographic Learning  offers a wide range of interactive reading practice for students.  The reading passages are categorized in terms of levels: beginner - (pre) intermediate - advanced, so all students from a mixed-level class have opportunities to practice  by themselves. The reading tasks are often assigned as self-study activity at home. In each interactive reading practice, students are asked to complete a multiple choice exercise, followed by a recording of the text and a glossary. Moreover, the website can also work as a resource for teacher since it also provides follow-up activities and the information of the reading's topic. This website really works for my teaching since its reading passages are authentic, the topics are various and the extra activities are useful. ABC Learning English  : This website is mul
